چکیده

We present an algorithm that is able to smooth out the speckle from many SAR images and which does not suuer from the drawbacks of multilooking. The algorithm is able to preserve the detail and resolution of the original image while producing a smooth, real-valued output. In many cases the quality of the smoothed image is suuciently high that it may be used with standard optical post-processing algorithms. We use a global optimization method (simulated annealing) and single point gamma statistics to nd the MAP solution for the radar cross-section. However, this method may also be regarded as an ideal adaptive lter that is both computationally eecient and highly parallelizable. Results will be presented for airborne, ERS-1 and multi-temporal SAR images.

Microwave Imaging Using SAR

Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (Pol.-SAR) allows us to implement the recognition and classification of radar targets. This article investigates the arrangement of scatterers by SAR data and proposes a new Look-up Table of Region (LTR). This look-up table is based on the combination of (entropy H/Anisotropy A) and (Anisotropy A/scattering mechanism α), which has not been reported up now. ...

Doppler Spectrum-Based NRCS Estimation Method for Low-Scattering Areas in Ocean SAR Images

The image intensities of low-backscattering areas in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are often seriously contaminated by the system noise floor and azimuthal ambiguity signal from adjacent high-backscattering areas. Hence, the image intensity of low-backscattering areas does not correctly reflect the backscattering intensity, which causes confusion in subsequent image processing or interp...

Sar Image Simulation with Application to Target Recognition

This paper presents a novel synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image simulation approach to target recognition, which consists of two frameworks, referred to as the satellite SAR images simulation and the target recognition and identification. The images simulation makes use of the sensor and target geo-location relative to the Earth, movement of SAR sensor, SAR system parameters, radiometric and g...

Estimation of Earthquake Damage Through Radar Interferometry (Case study: Bam 2003 Earthquake)

The estimate of the damage caused by the earthquake and other natural disasters in the first days after the occurrence of these events can provide a quick damages assessment and help to manage the crisis. Several methods are available to investigate the extent of earthquake’s damage. Optical remote sensing, photogrammetric methods (UAVs and LIDARs), radar interferometry (InSAR) and field observ...

Landslide Displacement Monitoring by a Fully Polarimetric SAR Offset Tracking Method

Landslide monitoring is important for geological disaster prevention, where Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images have been widely used. Compared with the Interferometric SAR (InSAR) technique, intensity-based offset tracking methods (e.g., Normalized Cross-Correlation method) can overcome the limitation of InSAR’s maximum detectable displacement. The normalized cross-correlation (NCC) method, ...
